I am thinking to state on PTCAS that I want to see LORs that people submit for me. (The reason for that is simple: I want to be sure that they submit decent LORs.I cannot just "trust" them.) Has anyone made the same choice?Has anyone faced any problems during interviews because of that choice?

I've heard that it can look bad for that reason. You should only ask for references from people you KNOW will write good letters. It also may make the letter writer feel awkward. Almost like they have to be fake nice or over the top hunky dory because they don't want to hurt your feelings. Also, why would you even ask for letters from people who may write you a bad letter? Why are you asking from people who you can't trust? Seems silly to me.

It will ding you. For example, lets just say you have a twin who is identical to you in terms of GPA, GRE etc, etc, etc, and even have the same LoR word for word from the same people. Because you chose to see your LoR and say your twin chose NOT see to it, your twin will get accepted over you to put it simply.

Obviously, have a twin in this aspect would never happen...But honestly, you will be competing with others who may have similar stats as you and simply viewing your LoR's could be that very ding that would cause them to pick someone over you...I know it's tempting, but for your own good...DON'T DO IT. lol
