  1. Pre-Dental
I have already gathered my LORs and they are on file at my university. But my Pre-Dental committee has this complicated process where they interview you and then your Pre-dental advisor will write you a comprehensive (coverletter/recommendation) that will be placed on top of the other LORs you have. Then the school will send out the LORs as a packet.

My problem arises because I am done with my AADSAS app now and will e-submit anyday now. But the pre-dental LOR packet that my school is preparing will be complete on July 25th (this is standard!!!). I think by the time I request for the LORs to be sent to AADSAS, and after processing, then the dental school will get the LORs sometime in August. I think this is pretty late. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do? I know the dental schools won't consider my app until my LORs are in, so there's almost no point for me to send the AADSAS apps right now since it won't be complete to the dental schools.

Should I just send the individual LORs without the pre-dental advisor coverletter? Or send the individual LORs first then later request the packet (this at least would get the admissions ball rolling). Or does this 1 month not make a difference?

Help!!!

I would have your references write another letter with the covers attached and have them sent to AADSAS directly. Just make sure in your app you don't have your references checked as committee. Having your file complete sometime in August doesn't mean AADSAS will send off your application at the same time. EXPECT delays at least 2-3 weeks. This would mean schools won't get your applications until September and by then most interview spots would be filled for consideration for first round admissions IMHO. Besides, not every school has a pre-dental committee so I don't think you would be in any less of a position if their cover letters are not included.

AADSAS will send your file to your schools even without letters of rec, and they will forward the letters of rec to the schools as soon as they recieve them. I recommend going through the letter of rec service at school, as many schools are pretty picky about what kinds of letters they want, but are all willing to waive it if you provide a committee letter. You should also take this into consideration: AADSAS takes 6-8 weeks to process your application... That means you're looking at July 21st AT BEST for your app to be sent to the actual schools. That said, your schools won't be waiting all that long for your letters of rec..

So this means that most people e-submitting their AADSAS apps right now, which is at the beginning of the application process, that the dental schools won't even get the AADSAS applications until sometime mid July? I know that AADSAS can process the app without the LORs, but dental schools will wait until the LORs are in before considering the app complete. So I guess with this LONG processing time, I am not really too behind in th process. 😕

Does this logic seem valid?

Thanks!!!

I'm in the exact same boat!! I've submitted everything, paid for everything, sent my DAT scores, and I'm just waiting on my school's committee which gathers the 24th of June.

So does anyone know for sure whether or not dental schools will get to look at my app. without the LORs?...or if they even will look at it without the LORs?

You can submit your AADSAS app as soon as you're ready - then when your pre-dental committee is ready to send out their packet you can have them send it AADSAS - and if you are worried about how long it will take to process and your application not being complete - you can just send the LOR/committee packet directly to the schools you're applying to. That way if you submit your AADSAS in the next little bit, then your AADSAS app and your LOR packet will get to the schools about the same time and your app will be complete.

Tell your committee to let you sign a waiver that you will not see the LORs sent to the respective schools. This way, they can just make copies and send the LORs out to all the individual schools you applied to, as well as sending one to AADSAS just for back up.
