For the 2010 cycle, I already have people who agreed that they will write LOR's for me. However, is it too soon to ask them to actually write the letters now? I mean the LOR's can't be submitted to AADSAS yet since the 2010 cycle hasn't started yet.

What did you do? Did you ask your evaluators to actually write LOR's before the cycle started and hang on to them and then when the cycle open, you gave them the letter LOE matching form to send with the letter? Am I putting myself at a disadvantage if I wait until June 1, give them the LOE matching form, and then tell them to write the LOR's? Even if they submit the LOR's electronically, they can't submit them before the cycle opens. Thanks.

just tell them the deadline is june 1st, and you're giving them ample time to write it. then just remind them in May before school ends that they will receive an email from AADSAS on june 1st with letter submission instructions. they don't necessarily have to write it NOW and hold on to them for 3 months.

Telling them to write it in June would be a bad idea. It's actually not too early right now IMHO. I think I started asking around this time last year. But since you've already got that covered, it might be nice to keep them updated and tell them the letter is due in june (or to be on the safe side, mid-may).

If they do decide to write the LOR's now, can they date the letters with the present date or do the LOR's have to be dated and signed no earlier than June 1? I know June 1 is the earliest the letters can be submitted. Thanks!
