I will be applying for the SFMatch and regular NRMP match for NEXT year. I am currently doing my medicine rotation. How should I go about getting an LOR? If I get one now, which I can, would it look bad b/c it would be essentially "old"? And if do get one now, are there any special requirements that I need to take i.e. put some kind of registration number on top or sign with blue ink or whateva? When do you guys ask for LORs from core rotations?

Edit - I just also read ERAS requires a cover sheet How is this possible if I wont be registered till next year?

Edit 2 - SFMatch requires your registration number be on the letters?!

If you made a good enough impression as a third year for a doc to write a letter than definately ask for it.

Your school SHOULD keep these on file for you.

Contact the doc a month before you need it and see if he/she will update the letter for you.

I think I did make a good impression.

School holds these? I am from carib school...

Do you think it is appropriate to update even if I never see the guy again till I need updating?
