I've asked my Chem II, Bio I & II, and my A &P I prof to write me a LOR. The thing is that I am not applying until May 2007. So do I just keep the LORs until I apply? Do they(profs) have to send them directly to the schools or AADSAS? I plan on applying to 10+ schools.....how many copies would i need? I always thought that you get the LORs and send it to AADSAS and they send copies to the schools that you are applying to. Thank you

Sine you're not applying until next year, I'd say just keep the letters. Then next year, after sending in your AADSAS application, mail those to AADSAS too. You only need one copy if you plan on using AADSAS.. but if you want to mail LOr to each school directly you'd need one for each school.

You are not suppose to have access to the letters. The best bet is if your school has a pre-dental advisory office or committee - they usually set up files for each student considering dental school and will hold your letters for you until you're ready to apply. They act as the middle-man. Then when you apply, you simply provide the LOR matching forms to the office and request that they sent them to AADSAS. You can also have them send them directly to each school. They usually keep the letters on file for at least 5 years. If your school does not have such an office, then the teachers will have to send the letters directly themselves - but sometimes you'll need to send them several times and this becomes a hassel for a professor because you're usually not the only student who wants a recommendation from them. It's easier to go through your pre-dental office. There are also services available that act as a "broker"/middle-man also. Basically, they can't be sent by you - same thing with your transcripts.

Hope that helps.
