Hi all,

With secondaries beginning come in, the only thing left for me to round up was letters. Unfortunately, it seems one of my two science professor LOR writers may have ghosted me. I have sent several emails, with the letter being due Sunday, to no response. I do not believe the professor is teaching over the summer for me to attend office hours as well. In light of this predicament, has anyone else dealt with something similar and found a solution? I am trying to contact a couple other science professors that kinda know me, but outside of this I might be SOL on a second science LOR. If I called schools, is it at all realistic they would waiver a second science professor in light of the situation, as long as I have at least one other? Outside of this one letter, I have one from my PI, a non-science professor, a science professor, and a character letter. Any hope or is this one big RIP?

No

The PI letter may qualify, though.
Yeah, I didn't think it would be realistic. Although I have heard that advice from some others. Didn't think of trying to ask for the PI to substitute the letter, although since he didn't teach me in class I don't know if his letter will vouch for being able to deal with academic rigor.

Did you receive credit hours and/or a grade for doing research in the PI's lab?

No, this was strictly an EC, although he is part of the university. He is not a faculty member either.

In that case treating the PI as a science professor LOR is probably dicey. It'd be a different story if your research had been for credit.

I didn't want to make a new thread for a similar problem, so i'll hop on this one.
Basically a pretty similar situation, except this is my non-science Professor LOR. I've sent them plenty of emails and even called and visited the department office to get in touch. I'm not sure what the problem is, because they were very eager to help me as we had a good relationship when I took their class.
Regardless, I am at a loss of what to do. I think many of the schools I am applying to don't require a non-science LOR, but I already had indicated them as a recommender on AMCAS for all of the schools i'm applying to, and i'm not sure if I can change it.
Thoughts?

If I recall you can call AMCAS and they will remove the letter if you want them to
