So I shadowed and volunteered (once a week) with an MD for almost 6 months and he agreed to write a letter of recommendation ( since July) on my behave to support my application. I am now almost done with my secondaries and listed him as one of my recommenders and he has not submitted a letter yet. Last week i asked him again about it (while he was on vacation) and he referred me to his office manager who i don't know very well. This manager has been giving me the run around about how there office is having computer issues and that she will submit it tomorrow and she still has not done it for the past week. I finally called today and she wanted me to write the letter and she can just put a letter head, I told her i can't do that and it has to be from the doctor (who i had a very good rapport with during my time there). I just don't know what to do, if feel like if she does my letter, it would be generic and not have all the essence of my experience there. Should I contact the doctor?

It sounds like she wants you to write the letter and she would put it on the doctor's letterhead. I don't think she was offering to write it herself.

Whatever you do, signature is of paramount importance
