Hey guys... Im taking my prereqs at a JC (Im a non-trad) how do the LORs work... My school doesnt have a pre med committee. I have heard that you can have your letters sent to your undergrad institution and they will send them out for you.

any advice?

I would suggest either taking care of it yourself (by either having your writers sign the back of the envelope after sealed or having them send letters directly to the school), or by using a service such as interfolio. I personally did the former, but would probably do the latter if I had to do it all over again. The time and headaches you would save will be worth it if interfolio works as well as it is advertised to work. I have heard of people on here having very good results.

I had mine sent over to my undergrad and they mailed it for me... it's much better for the teacher this way because he only has to write 1 copy... instead of asking him to write 18 copies and sign the letter as well as the back of the envelope.

In addition, I had my CC writer state: He received an A in my course which is not easy to do.

I had an issue with schools possible looking down that it was obtained at a CC so I had him add that 😀

If your undergrad has a service to send letters, use it. If not, I would make labels, provide stamps(even though they probably wont need them), and give clear directions of when to send the letters. They can easily make a few copies and stuff some envelopes to go out when schools request them. It's part of what they do as teachers at a college level and I found most were very willing and anxious to help.
