Caribean Grad with not so great GPA and 228 on STEP 1, most likely applying for IM

originally thinking july ck and august cs

now contemplating sept23 ck and much later cs. Probably Oct/nov. not in time for programs anyway

Does anybody here taken CK last summer tell me exactly how long it took CK scores to come during rush of july, or with sept 23rd date. Because this is crucial to knowing when programs will prbably see my score, and if decent percentage (25%) of interview dates have already been offered.

Am I risking losing interviews? Is it true programs don't really care about CS when it comes to picking interview applicants

(1) in general, Step 2 scores matter: when Step 1 sucked (yours didnt) or for admission. Step 1 gets you the interview, Step 2 helps be towards the front of the rank list. I suppose if you got a 258 on Step 2 in June, you might make your application stronger. Though you did a little above average on Step 1, which probably means a little above average on Step 2, also.

(2) CK rolls out in 8 weekish blocks. If you take the test at week 7, you find out your score in a week. If you take it week 1, you find out your score in two months... I'm not certain if there is any appreciable pattern that you could time your test taking with score reporting.

(3) CS is the last thing on their mind. Its pass fail. You sound like english is your first language. You'll pass. When you take that matters literally not at all.

Receiving the scores for Step 2 CK averages approximately 3.5 weeks after the exam date.

i guess 3.5 weeks makes sense considering the 8 week blokcs, when u consider average of 1 and 7 is 4 weeks.

but dam. 8 weeks is long time

I worry about CS because a. im FMG. b. im the atypical med student in that told when an exam is unfailable, and not to worry, that i dont just study 1 day instead of 1 week like typical students. I actually take things to heart and walk in blind.

So im taking super extra efforts to ignore the word out there about CS, as its too easy for me to buy into it being "that" easy and I know that one rare fail wll be me, just one or two bad cases due to anxiety. i dont know. im even taking a class. but it so damn expensive. Plus with this delay, I only get one shot on CS, otherwise will not pass in time for residency. And all this talk and planning and everything goes out the window. Arent they stopping the pass fail thing anyway

do you really think step 2 would have to be that high, even a 239-240 woudnt change things huh?
