LOST Scheduling Permit Step 1---HELP

OK, I am seriously freaking out. I've just realized that I cannot put my hands on my scheduling permit for Step 1. I'm scheduled to take it this Wednesday. I can only speculate that my dear mother accidentally threw it away when she came over and helped to 'straighten up' my place. I take full responsibility for not locking it up somewhere. :-( It's the weekend before my exam and I'm unable to contact NBME or Prometric. Has anyone ever heard of this happening before? Surely there must be some protocol for individuals who toss out vital documents!!! If you have any information that could help me, please reply. My school requires me to take the exam by June 11th in order to start my 3rd year rotation on time.

Unfortunately there's not much you can do. You will need the scheduling permit, which NBME will have to mail to you again. You should call your school ASAP and explain the situation to them, and then tell them you won't be able to take it June 11th if you don't get your permit in time. Hopefully they will be forgiving.

I think there is a $100 charge to change your exam date if you cannot give 5-7 days notice.

dagg...sorry man...same sh!!t happened to me, though i later found it....
But i guess the best thig to do will be to call first thing monday morning...u may have to reschdule it to the next possible date.....cuz i dont know if they will be able to send a new one to you by wednesday. G.Luck

same thing happened to me....just call NBME and they will mail you a new one, it's really no big deal. i was really freaked out too, but they were totally cool about it over the phone, it must happen a lot i guess. they really made it seem like nothing. anyway, i called them last tuesday and they were supposed to mail it out by thurs or fri, and i haven't gotten it yet....i take my exam june 11th, so i'm starting to get scared too. but i'm goign to call them tomorrow and double check whether it's been sent out yet or not. maybe you can ask them to FEDEX it to you. anyway, here is the phone number that i called, in case you need it: 215.590.9700. they open at 8am EST tomorrow. good luck!
