I graduated last year with a degree in Mathematics and Statistics at a prestigious LAC, but had a very significant science background (one of those students who had about 7 majors before settling with two). I'll be entering a top-tier master's program in statistics and computational biology, but I've been realizing more and more that I really want to study medicine, more to the point biomedical research. I've been interested in a lot of the MD/PHD and MSTP programs that I've come across, but obviously I would need to attend a post-bacc to wrap up the pre-reqs and build a better application profile for the MD component.

As of now, I graduated with a 3.7 overall GPA, a 3.85 in science, and I've completed BIO I and II, CHEM I, Molecular Genetics, two semesters of english (composition and lit) and obviously any calculus or statistics requirements. I also got a 600V/800M/6.0A on the GRE and have extensive research experience in biological and medical applications (I interned at the WHO in Geneva working on Vaccine data for a UNICEF project and worked under a yearlong NSF grant my senior year on statistical genetics).

I intend on finishing up my Master's program, because I'll be on lab rotation the entire time under my grant conditions, which I think would be great experience and allow me to publish a decent amount of papers, but I would probably need to attend a post-bacc program subsequent to that in order to finish out the rest of my requirements.

What sort of program should I be looking for and how many years would I be looking at in terms of a committment to this change? I'm still just a student, so I'm not exactly rolling in cash, but I'm more than willing to tack on a few more loans or steep myself in scholarship applications if such opportunities are available.

Sorry for all the questions...this has been more or less a recent development in my whole "life plan" scheme, so to speak, and I'd like to figure out how plausible any of this really is. Thanks to any who respond!
