Loupe adjustment or future eye problem?

Hey guys,
I have just received my Surgitel loupes, which after trying on made my eyes hurt. Initially, i.e the very first time I put them on, I was just looking at random things, one of which was the fine print on a label. At first the images appeared doubled, but after about 3-4 mins my eyes re-focused to give me the correct view. My question is this; is this doubling of the image something most experienced? and is this just a question of training my eyes over time, or is it a problem with the loupe itself? If the former is true, wouldn't this cause eye problems later in my career as I have a nice little head spin going on now.

When i got my surgitels, I got an immediate headache the first 2-3 times i used them, but am fine now. I don't remember having any doubling.

try adjusting the horizontal distance between the lenses. it's not normal to see double with your loupes, and even if it is for a brief moment, it certainly shouldn't take 3-4 mins to adjust to. all else fails, talk to the rep for surgitel. the "loupes lady" had to make adjustments for everyone in my class.

make sure the objects you are viewing are not too close to your face. for some, the tendency is to hold objects closer to their face, thinking that they will see better, but that defeats the purpose of the loupes then. also, you may be crossing your eyes. try looking through the lens as if you're looking at something at a far distance.
