i searched the forums and read about some ppl buying cheaper loupes but they stopped using them because they didn't like them or their quality was bad..
how do you buy online? don't you have to get fitted for them ?
do you like your med-lites? what magnification did u go for?
Design for vision seems to be one of the best brands out there; and i'm thinking since i'll be using loupes all the time might as well get a good one instead of buying another one later on.
I'm meeting with the DFV rep later this week and going to decide b/w 2.5 or 3.5 EF
So far they are great. I know they are new, but I love'em. Yes I bought them off the website and they were here in three days.
No you do not have to be fitted, they are adjustable, Just like the $1000 okley flip downs.
I heard about med-lite on Dental Town. A dentist there has been using them for years, he/she sweared by them.
Why get a cheap pair? What is your working distance? What magnification is best for you? Don't know? Neither do I, really. I am learning, I have no idea what I really need until I spend more time in the sim lab. After I know what I like and need I will sell my med-lites (IF TTLs ARE SOOOO much better) on ebay essentailly for what I payed for them, becuase they are not custom, but adjustable and buy a nice TTL pair.
As for what I went with, 3.0x with 17" working distance. Already wishing I went with the 21". But hey, they are a learning pair, that was the whole idea.
I know the other companies make good products, but the reason EVERONE gets'em is becuase the reps are HARD AT WORK every week selling you that thiers are better. Med-lite is chillin in the cut, not paying 10000 reps to 15 bucks an hour to sell you on thier product. Which by the way who think pays that 15 bucks an hour? DFV? or do you think maybe, just maybe they pack that into that oh, so, sweet G you spent on your pretty new loupes?
Food For Thought,
