us mid tier md, average grades no research, step 1 218. Love proceedures, what advice would you have for a field. Interventional radiology seems perfect but out of reach.? Some advice would be great. TIA

Do internal or family medicine and run a botox injection clinic.

Are you really going to let your Step 1 score determine what you do what with your life? Be better than your score.
Proud of you man! I'm hoping you do well in med school post-step 1 and go on and match in ENT somewhere; while I find it melodramatic how you've been posting on here incessantly for months on how big a deal step 1 is, I think it's good to vent and get it out of your system, which has hopefully happened.

As for matching into competitive specialities, I know applicants that recently matched into ortho and optho with a step 1 score in the high 210s--not really ideal but possible. I also know someone who failed step II CS and went on to match VS. It's been done before and your app is catered to ENT with all your research, so out of the 88% of ENT applicants that get a shot (2016 charting outcomes), you stand to have a chance. Just line up all your ducks and hope for the best.

To OP: all of the listed options are solid options. If you love clinic, choose IM. If you hate clinic, choose anesthesia. If you want to never have a normal circadian rhythm while working, choose OB.

Anesthesia. Gastroenterology maybe? (Not sure don't know that much about IM subs competitiveness)
