W/ a 190 on step 1, how tough would it be to get into a path program? I am limited to chicago programs for residency because my spouse works there.

As we have said in every other thread about board scores, board scores are but one part of your application. If you have a strong academic record, are a US grad, and have decent experience in the field your board score may raise some questions with some programs but it is unlikely to shut you out. You passed.

Yaah is absolutely right. I didn't study for Step 1, and of course, my score was anything but optimal. During my 3rd year, I learned I really wanted to live in Chicago and knew I needed some form of damage control. I did a couple of away rotations and just worked my butt off. I ended up getting my first choice as a result. I highly recommend doing an away rotation, especially if you have a specific location you desire. Cannot stress that enough.
