Low(er) GRE?

Hey there, I've got a question for ya'll. I am in the process of applying to several programs. I did not take the SAT and I half-assed the GRE. My grades are good, have lots of clinical and volunteer experience. Anyone else in the sub 1300GRE score who is applying to structured post-bacc programs? And for those of you who have been in my situation, any recommendations?

I have some questions about GRE scores too (I took it recently to apply to Biology Master's programs). What's considered a "good" score (ie, "good" MCAT score is above 30, etc)? Do schools not give much weight to the analytical writing score?

I took the test over 5 years ago and I think it has changed since then. Back then it was 3 sections of a max of 800 each (verbal , math, analytical).

I think that anything over 2000 was considered good then.

Glad to hear that because I received a complaint about that post in particular and was going to "keep an eye on you" to see if that tone persisted with other postings. Now I can take my "Big Brother" hat off!

I was just going to suggest the same thing...the original poster has full and complete autonomy to delete any posts that they have made...or in this case "that someone made in their name..on their behalf"

By the way...I did a post bac program..and I am a 3rd year now...

no, i didn't know i could delete posts!!! that technology definitly would have come in handy-- and it would have saved my buddy a mouth shot or two

now if anyone can holler back with GRE score appraisals that would be respected and appreciated

I got a 1340 on the GRE(780 Math, only 560 Verbal) and a writing sample of 5.5 out of 6...I'm in an MS program right now that's basically a more formal post-bacc program, called Basic Medical Sciences. I also got into the UPenn post-bacc program though, and my stats aren't exactly spectacular, so I'm sure you could get into a program. What's your GPA?

I'm not exactly sure what a "good" GRE score is...the feeling I got about it when I took it was it's basically the same math as the SAT with a tougher Verbal section, and the scores reflect this as well. If I recall correctly, an 800(perfect) on the Math section is only the 92nd percentile, whereas I think I was in the low 80's or high 70's percentile in Verbal with a 560. So maybe it's more important how you stack up in each section as opposed to cumulatively.
