Low GPA, but NOT GIVING UP

It'd be nice to find one for DO acceptance too. Anyways, we can give you all the 'never give up or say die!' stuff you want to hear. But the cold hard facts are what they are. So you better rock out the MCAT like it's a 2nd grade spelling test. The following is not meant to be fluff, but at least it's honest.

As far as post-bacs go, I don't see the point except for grade replacement. And that's only relevant for DO school, which is fine if that's your goal but you're in college already doing a science-related program. Your grades are really really bad right now. What are you planning to do to fix that in the short term? How would spending a bunch of money on a post-bac do anything for you if you can't figure out how to improve this? Do you have trouble studying? Do you panic during exams? Are you not doing your homework? Do you have an undiagnosed learning disability (not a joke question, it's a serious thing)? ADHD? Do you party too much? Family problems? Sickness? Some of these things you can't control (like family drama or medical things), but a lot of it you can. I'm no fan of just shouting 'bootstraps!,' but there are plenty of success stories out there of people who figure out why they are failing, and turn things around in the classroom to become successful. But it's not easy.

If your goal is med or DO school, you've got a big challenge in front of you. Figure out why you're pulling an F in a basic calculus class first, then worry about the MCAT.
