Good afternoon!
I am graduating next Spring and my GPA is at a 3.2. I've worked throughout my whole college career in a medical office(full time at one point) and I've volunteered at hospitals, shadowed physicians, and will be doing research in the near future. I have also gone on a mission trip to Haiti. I have not taken the MCAT yet but do plan to do so next year.

Basically, i am worried because my GPA is low, will MD schools consider my application because of my extracurriculars? And of course if i get a good MCAT score?

Should i plan on switching my career path?

Any feedback will help!

If you get a high MCAT (>514), you may get some attention or you can apply to DO schools and have a great chance granted you do well on the MCAT. Maybe try to get non-clinical volunteering in at some point too.

I have volunteering experience that is non medical as well! Sorry forgot to mention that.

No, and no.

You need to demonstrate that you'd survive med school. Your mission trip will be discounted as "medical tourism".

The fastest path for you to become a doctor will be to retake all F/D/C science coursework, do well on MCAT, and apply to DO schools.

IF you're boning for the MD degree, there are MD schools that reward reinvention. You'll need to ace all the classic pre-reqs, and ace either a post-bac (which can be DIY) or a SMP, ideally one given at a med school. Then also ace MCAT (513 or better, 33+ on the old scale).

Do not apply until you have the best possible app. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Med schools aren't going anywhere, and, in fact, by the time you apply, several more schools will have opened their doors.
