I really need your help. I am a raising junior at top university, due to medical and other reasons I had bad adjustment on college. my accumulated GPA below 3.0, and I have three Cs and 1 D on pre-med prerequisite courses. I have four more medical school prerequisite courses left. I have no problem to graduate within four years. but if I continue take pre-med course at my current university, my sGPA and accumulated GPA will very low.
Which one is a better choice:
1. take one semester off, take two medical school prerequisites courses at home state university. after getting better science GPA, then go back my university and graduate. one semester off will make negative impact for applying medical school?

2. Go back to my college next semester, Do not take any medical school prerequisites at my current university. take necessary course and graduate within four years, after graduating, take medical school prerequisite courses at my home state college. then apply medical school. If I take a GPA year then apply medical school, Can I get pre-med committee letter from the university where i graduate?

3. I can retake the course which I get D from my current university and replace my grades from transcript , but it is very difficult to get A. another option is retake the D course from my state university.

I am depressed and need help. Thanks!

Even if you retake the D, your AMCAS GPA will still have the D calculated into it. I think your best bet is to complete your major requirements at your current university to graduate and then do a custom post-bacc at your home state university. You would have to contact your school’s pre-med committee to see if they would write your letter for you, but I’m pretty sure most committees will write for anyone who’s graduated within 1-2 years.

If you had significant enough medical problems during undergrad you can explain them in your personal statement or secondaries.

Good luck. All is not lost, especially if you rock your MCAT.

Very appreciate your help! thank you so much for your time.
I saw doctor this summer, I have depression and doctor said I do not need to take medicine, I got D last semester due to the depression. but I am not sure my health issue will get better or not. If I have to take semester off, should I tell medical school I had depression in my personal statement? Thanks!
