Hi! I recently graduated as Biology B.S. major and I am trying to apply to some DO schools next year..

My cGPA is 3.0 and sGPS is 3.1

I have changed my major from BIO Engineering to Biology after my freshmen year as soon as I realized that this was not my path.. I made few mistakes and tried to fix my grades by retaking some classes and have increased my GPA little by little until I have graduated...

I know that I have weak GPA and will not be competitive... and I have not taken my MCAT yet but
I will take one on November and possibly another one on January.

I have few activities I was able to to during my four years of undergrad such as becoming a founder for a Medical association and running a Soccer team under student activities.
I have been doing volunteering work at hospitals but do not have research or shadows...
I am planning to work on them as soon as I am done with MCAT or possibly while I am studing for the MCAT.

Would I have chances at any DO schools if I do well on my up coming MCAT?..

Any suggestions or helpful advises? Thank you Everyone for reading my post!....

try to keep landing those A's and get a high 20 or >30mcat.....it's not impossible

This.

People with your GPAs and 29+ MCATs tend to get in somewhere. You'll have to make sure you fill in your ECs and apply broadly and early with a lot of new schools on your list.

If you can, after you take your MCAT and do well, I recommend trying to fit in as many retakes as you can (obviously you'd have to get A's on them), at a CC to save money. You want to retake sciences that you have <B- in to bring up your sGPA. Math/Engineering don't count, so you don't have to worry about that. If you can fit them in during the spring, summer, and fall (submit your app early regardless and just update after the semester ends) it could really improve your GPA and chances.

Thank you!! do you have any suggestions about which schools I should go for????

Thank you everyone !

In addition, is it important to have experience in research and shadows? ? I am worried about my ECs ....

Honestly the only real limit is your money. I would recommend basically all the newer schools (like ACOM, CUSOM, MUCOM, Touro-Middletown, etc. In addition, I'd add any schools with mid tier stats (LECOM, WVSOM, AZCOM, SOMA, etc.). Then for good measure some teaches that you'd really like to attend. Obviously don't apply anywhere you wouldn't realistically attend, but I wouldn't restrict your list too much (if you can afford it).

Like I said though, it's in your best interest to apply with the strongest app first, so try to get the retakes on there top bring up your GPA as much as you can.
