hello guys,

do you know any one who got accepted with a gpa as low as 2.3 ?
what were their statuses or other criteria for them that made the school neglected the gpa?

please share 🙁

You need to be exceptional with everything else, because even people with both NBDE passed and perfect TOEFL and above average GPA and experience with perfect references and great personal statement cant get in

Hi..m from India..recently moved to USA..I don't have transcripts with me now..I have 60% BDS percentage.. I guess my GPA lands around 2.3..m going to give my parts in next year..but worried about my GPA..are there any chances for me to get admission into dental school with my GPA or I need to do mph to improve my GPA?can u please guide me🙂

R@S - Past is past. You cannot do anything to increase your GPA....so do not worry about it.

Concentrate on doing well in your Part 1 and Part 2. Start looking for volunteering options. Take classes at community college. Keep yourself busy and show them that you have and are capable of handling rigorous academic preparation.

Prepare well for your boards and do not worry about your GPA. Do not give up....key to success is perseverance and hard work! All the very best!

thanku so much for ur support.. 🙂🙂can u please tell me what did u mean about taking classes at community college..?..i dint get that point.

.m just wondering whether I had to do mph in order to get dental admission easily..as a have very less GPA around 2.3..is shadowing volunteering and other stuff is enough for low GPA..?? Or doing mph would b better..??I really can't afford to mph program now..and also people say mph is waste of time when u have other shadowing and volunteering and other stuff..according to my GPA can I get admission into dental school without doing mph???..

I would suggest you to concentrate first on your part 1 and part 2. Once you have them done, you can concentrate on looking for other avenues to make your application stronger. Shadowing and volunteering will not be a remedy for low GPA. Do not overthink at this point. As I mentioned earlier, concentrate on your boards and get them of your back first.

By community college I mean, you can take some tough/challenging classes like biochem or biochem lab or any other advanced classes relevant to the field and get good grades. In that way, you can look as a competitive candidate. Community college can be a good alternative to a university if you cannot afford university.

Some of the community colleges offer Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting degrees. So, look for those programs and see if you can take some of their advanced classes without going for the entire degree. I doubt if they allow it but no harm in trying them. I think most of those programs require SSN. Do you have SSN?

Did you find out if they have a certificate program? If they have informed you that you cannot take individual classes then that must be their policy and you cannot change that. Did you try finding if a community college offers the program?
