Has anyone ever heard of anyone else gettgin accpeted to a US med school with a Science GPA of a 2.97 and a Hi MCAT like 29 or 30. That is what I have. I also have an AO GPA of 3.78 and a 3.3 cum. Do I have a shot?

A 29 or 30 is not a high MCAT. However, with that science gpa, it won't matter anyway.

Doc34,
I PM'd you

Ouch.....gut shot

don't listen to these naysayers. i got accepted with a 2.71 o/a gpa to an allopathic school. granted, the majority of the 2.71 gpa resulted from goofing around the first time i attended college. but the point is, your life story and trend in gpa will mean more than a simple number ever will. and a 30 mcat is great. i got a 30 and my result sheet said that it was right at 2.5 standard deviations over the average. so if you know anything about statistics then you know about how good.

Hey thanks Mongoose, It is good to hear positive words. What school are you in? Do you know of any schools that take low GPA's?

Dude, you just posted in another thread that you hadn't taken the MCAT yet and were scoring in the mid-20's on the Kaplan practice tests. Now you claim to have taken the MCAT and scored a 29-30. If you want people to help you, don't lie.

BUSTED! 😱

Hey Mongoose,
I really am in a similar situation as the first post and do appreciate what you had to say. If you don't mind, could you post or PM me with the schools you ended up getting into and what else helped you to get there? Thanks🙂

2.5 standard deviations would place a 30 somewhere between the 97.5 and 99th percentile range. I think you might have misread something there. For the April 2003 mcat, the mean score was a 24.8 and the standard deviation was 6.3 That means a 31 was about one standard deviation away from the mean, a 37 was about two standard deviations away, and a 41 was about 2.5 SD's away.
