Hi,

I would really appreciate any insight you have into my chances of matching in NE (DC, Md, Va, Pennsylvania area). Currently a third year at a top 30 USMD school.

Step 1: 205 *sigh*

Step 2 CK and CS - will take by end of this year (aiming to take in June 2016 so score should be available by time I apply) - also, I've already made a study plan so I can do well on Step 2

P's and one honors in preclinical classes
No pubs, one research stint, a few community service extracurriculars but nothing particularly outstanding. Also worked for a few years in an underserved peds clinic before med school.

What are my chances of matching into a peds program if I only apply to northeastern schools?

Similar situation as you, I am a first year peds resident at a mid tier program in NE. ALl I can say is apply broadly and attend all interviews. Interview well and appear like a normal human. You will be fine.

you'll definitely match into a peds program in the northeast.probably not boston children's, chop, columbia, etc.., but there are so many and you are a usmd coming from a good school with no red flags. i would just apply to where you want to be, it's a few extra dollars and you never know where you might get an interview then anything can happen.

DC, MD, and VA is more mid-Atlantic than NE. I think if you apply broadly within that area (including EVMS, St. Chris, INOVA, etc), you'll be far more likely to match than if you focus on the top academic institutions.
