I get my MCAT scores next week and have been getting nightmares for days about scoring lower. the test was really really hard and i'm definitely worried i scored lower....has this happened to anyone?

does this mean an automatic rejection? do i necessarily HAVE to release my more recent score?....i already sent most of my secondaries in.

I scored lower the second time. I'm an MSI so it's not automatic rejection, though it's not good. Don't worry until you get your scores back, good luck.

did you ask schools to put your application on hold until you recieved your 2nd MCAT score? Either way, I believe that once you release your first set of scores, your second set are also automatically released. I took them a second time and got one point lower. That was fun. Good luck, and I'm sure you'll do great!

Well, it would be slightly dishonest to not send in your second score if the schools were giving you a secondary based upon you retaking the MCAT. If you noted on your application that you were retaking the MCAT, those schools will wait until they have your most recent score to proceed with your application (essentially you will be on hold until they receive it).

Just send your score in when it comes out. You don’t want to be forever haunted by the second score; wondering if the schools will find out about it if you chose not to send it in.

Good Luck :luck:

i asked aacomas to take the designation that i was re-taking my MCAT off of my primary. i don't know if this is dishonest or not, but any school i spoke with said i had the option of having my application going under review with my "Current" MCAT score, or waiting if i wished. no one said they were only going to review me if my MCAT was higher or anything like that, AACOMAS also said i dont have to designate a retake if don't want to...

i also asked some schools if i was obliged to release my newer score to them, and they said no, so i think i'm allright.

basically, if i do score lower tomorrow, i don't want to tell if i dont have to. if thats dishonest, thats what it is...but i want to get into med school, can you blame me?!

YES!

wow, who the hell are you to judge me, plane jane?

If a medical school ADCOM tells me that It is no problem if i choose to witthhold my scores, what gives you the right to make a moral judgment on me?

if anything is "low", it's your attitude in judging me, you're completely out of line by saying how i will act as a physician - you do not know me, or anything about me. How can you possibly link withholding a 2nd mcat score to harming a patient and lying about it? you are ignorant. go to hell.

Okay I'm not a moderator but I think the personal attacks are getting at least a bit harsh.

If Adcoms are asking if you want to proceed with your current score then I think you're fine. If they know you're waiting on your second score and they are offering to review your file without it than that is NOT being dishonest 🙂

Good Luck with your score today!!! :luck::luck::luck::luck::luck:

Not reporting an MCAT score is dishonest, school's ask you all the dates that you take /plan to take the MCAT. You are obligated to report your score. I have never heard of someone not being able to report their score. Also, I think the scores are automatically released when they come out so they could technically check to see if you took it (they even know if you registered for the test, showed up, and then voided your score). You asked if it was dishonest, even though you were going to go through with it, why even bother asking if you don't care about the consequence/outcome then? This was my point.

actually, mcat scores are NOT automatically reported to osteopathic medical schools, you ARE NOT "liable" for reporting your scores unless they came in BEFORE your applications were COMPLETE, and if you void your scores on test day medical schools ( allopathic AND osteopathic ) DO NOT have access to that information - you only lose your deposit.

ADDITIONALLY, if a medical school adcom gives you the option to review your app with your current scores before your new scores are mailed out, it is NOT dishonest to have it reviewed without your new scores. you obviously are misinformed.
