I just got my Loyola secondary. I know they do a primary screening, but does anyone know how many secondaries they end up sending out? The app says that 15% of secondaries are called for an interview. Just HOW big is that 15% is what I wanna know...

😎 😕

i just got the loyola secondary too, and im really debating whether or not i want to do it--im tired of these blasted essays.

Actually, I spoke with the secretary ending of October. As of then, they had more than 6600 applicants for the class of 2009. She said that 680 applicants were interviewed for class of 2008, 308 were offered acceptances while 140 enrolled. Good luck 🙂 .

OK 6600 applicants. But were those all 6600 secondary applicants or primary AMCAS submissions? Thanks. 🙂

Loyola seriously kicks butt. I didn't realize how bada$$ it is until I went there for an interview. I'd recommend getting that secondary off.

cool. but, the question is how many people are invited to complete a secondary application?

I sent in their secondary on 9/13 and my LORs were sent out on October 15. Does Loyola let you know when you are complete there? I haven't heard anything from them yet. Anyone know or should I just give them a call to see what's going on? Thanks.

Laurie B,
You seem to know a decent amount about Loyola So I have a question for you. I technically got in trouble with my undergrad institution - although I did nothing wrong. My apartment received a off campus misconduct violation because of one of my roomates being drunk at another apartment (I wasn't even there!) that was not even ours and got in trouble. The dean wrote a letter saying I was not the "main protoganist". I fear this will hurt my chances at Loyola though because the way it is more of a spiritual and community type of medical school. Loyola is one of my top choices, they had me write an essay explaining but I feel like it was not good enough - all I could say was that it was not my fault but I should have chosen better roomates. Any thoughts? I think my file was going to be reviewed this past week and I never was contacted so I guess I was not chosen for an interview. 🙁

First of all, did you mention this incident in your secondary? If not then there is no way the adcom would know about it. Second, even if you did mention it, I think it would be clear that you were not involved. So don't worry.

I had to mention it... our school includes it with the health committee letter. With the secondary they sent me a paper asking me to explain. I had to write about it on the AMCAS even since our school feels the need to make a big deal out of it. Thanks though.

If you call, make sure it is on Thursdays... that is the only day they let you check application status!
