1. What do you consider a valuable experience in your personal development? This might be a decision you have made, an achievement of which you are particularly proud, or a person who has influenced your life.

2. Describe briefly how you have dealt with a personal or academic problem you have encountered.

3. How did you reach your decision to enter medicine? Describe your participation in any health care or other activities which reinforced your decision.

4. What self-education, research, or independent scholastic work have you undertaken and what do you feel you have accomplished in this work?

5. If you will not be enrolled as a full-time student during the current academic year, please explain what you will be doing prior to your planned matriculation into medical school.
I will be enrolled as a full-time student during the current academic year.

6. Please use this space to bring the information contained on your AMCAS application up-to-date. Indicate grades earned, alterations in your proposed course work or graduation date, address changes, additions to your list of activities, and anything else you feel we should know.

They say to use no more than 25 lines for each question. Hope that helps.

thanks munchkin. one more thing...is it on paper or online? what i'm getting at is: 25 lines typed?

Why hasn't loyola even downloaded my amcas? Every other school did so a long time ago, I am even done with 7 secondaries and have an interview. This is strange....

sickofit--

Its online, so 25 lines typed

i didn't get a loyola secondary yet, but i logged on and it lets me access the application just fine, no matter what due date i put in

i think loyola screens so i dont know if i should fill out the application...i mean, i might not even be getting one

maybe i'll just call them up or something

Can I ask you guys for the secondary apps website address?
Thanks very much!

Looking at all those questions kinda sucks the life out of me.

I am in complete agreement with Juddson. Schools have my Personal statement, MCAT scores, GPA, Involvement in ECs, Clinical Experience. LORs, Transprict, and they want 5 more ESSAYS??? i doubt if anyone even reads through all of that information.. it is really sad that they make us applicants go through all this hell.. for nothing..

When I went to my Loyola interview, they said that my essays really shined out, and I got an early interview that ended up in an acceptance. The essays are important to them. Try to motivate yourself to do them to the best of your ability- you never know what is going to happen in your application process down the line and you don't want to regret being lazy later on. For me, I had a lower MCAT score and the essay was a chance for me to show them who I am and what I am capable of. I still believe that I got my interviews at schools that had good essay opportunities, and I didn't get an interview at my state school (uic) because their secondary didn't let me show myself fully. And I'm not saying this just because I'm now going to Loyola 🙂.

Mini med school? What did you guys do?

I submitted my amcas in mid-late june. I had as I said before a lower mcat so I wanted to help myself out as much as possible by getting it in on the early side. I sent in the secondary in mid-august, and got an invitiation to interview in the beginning to middle of september. My interview was at the end of september and I got my acceptance on Oct. 15th. Trust me, nothing makes the application process better than having an early acceptance and having one acceptance out of the way.

That being said, don't think you won't get interviews because you haven't applied yet- just get the darn thing in!

Loyola says that if you feel you answered any of their questions in your AMCAS essay, you may state that and not answer again.

They ask: "How did you reach your decision to enter medicine? Describe your participation in any health care or other activities which reinforced your decision."

This is basically all I talked about in my personal statement. Should I just not answer the question, or would I be better of to reword parts of my essay and add in parts of activities which I did not include in my essay?

Thanks in advance.

Quick FYI,

Loyola screens so if you start your application online, don't finalize it unless you get the invitation letter! Always better to be safe about it...
