I've got my interview for LSU coming up the first week of September, and I haven't even begun to practice the chalk carving. Anyone attending or also interviewing at LSU have any good tips on how to practice? I know they place a pretty big emphasis on it!

THANKS!

id check old posts, but i heard that if they like you - it doesnt matter as much

but let me ask - are you OOState?
what are your stats and when did you apply?

bc im still waiting to hear back from them

I interviewed with them last November and I didn't start practicing until after I got my interview invitation. Dr. Ritchie told me my chalk was "above average" so as long as you practice everyday I'm sure you will be just fine. I started without timing myself and after I got better I used the timer. I was doing about 2-3 chalks per day. My first few chalks were awful but they get better over time. I numbered mine so I could see my improvement. Good luck! Are you in-state? I haven't heard from them yet but hoping I get another interview this cycle.

I'm OOS, so I don't wanna take any chances! LSU is definitely in my top 3!
DAT: 23AA/ 23TS/ 24PAT
AADSAS GPA (w/ +-) BCP 3.65 non-sci 3.83 overall 3.75

Was in the 07/06 batch of apps, and got the invite last week (got their supplement about 2 weeks ago).

Numbering is a good idea! I definitely want to be able to check my improvement.

Are you interviewing on the 24th? If so, see you there.

From my understanding, oos is interviews first and then instate interviews start in October, I could be wrong. My interview is on 8/24 and ive been practicing 2-3 chalks a day since my invite. I plan on practicing more leading up to the interview. Good luck!

Does anyone know how many oos interviews they give? I know they accept up to 5 from both Arkansas and up to 5 from other states.

Where did you all get your chalk from. I've got some ordered but figured they would arrive broke in the mail. No local store stokes them. Maybe out of a box of 12 a few of them will still be intact.

I don't know how many OOS they interview but do know they don't accept a lot of us.

Good luck to all.

office depot. I ordered 4 boxes, when they arrived about 10% of them were broken, so still plenty to work with.

That's the date they gave me, but I'm studying abroad till the 25th. Which also means I can't even get the tools to practice till I get home. 😱
But I moved the interview to Sept 7th. Anyone else interviewing then?

First off, congrats on the invite! Im a Louisiana resident, and I received an interview invite this morning for 8/24. I guess i'll see some of you there, and it seems to be a mix of LA residents and OOS applicants. Started chalk carving last week (bought chalk from office depot and a local NOLA store).

I'm a resident as well and got my interview invite yesterday! Thank goodness I interviewed last year because I had not started practicing chalk yet. They gave us such short notice it seems like. Last year I had almost a whole month.

Found something interesting that i want to share with oos applicants with interviews to lsu. According to table 3.2 from http://www.adea.org/publications/Documents/OG_2010/OG2010_ch3.pdf they interviewed 18 applicants from oos and accepted 10 of those. Granted it is from 2009, I doubt it would change much. I only wonder how many of those interviews were from Arkansas. Thought I would share and good luck!

Last year they interviewed 20 OOS and accepted 5. I do not remember the exact source of this information...I believe it came from one of Doc Toothache's compiled spreadsheets.
