Hi! There’s not a ton of information online but I was wondering if a current student, alumni, or anyone with information could tell me a bit about the school. How are classes organized? Is the work life balance manageable? Does the school facilitate research work? How much of the class goes into specialities and how does the school facilitate this? Is LSU good for specialization? Any other information would be great as well. Thank you!

These answers are almost all subjective based on the student with most students likely saying that the balance is manageable. A look at their website or an email to their student affairs office could point you to class structure and research opportunities.

You can check the VIRMP data for the number of people per VIRMP cycle that apply to the match based on school. Pretty much most to nearly all schools with teaching hospitals facilitate people going into specialty as you have the opportunity to be with specialists a lot of the time.

But does any one school focus on sending students to specialty? Not really. And there isn't much a school can do to get students into specialty other than giving the opportunity to engage with specialists. Schools generally don't have major influence over match stats or picks outside of their own hospitals (let alone the private practices).
