For me, I got pretty lucky. Immediately after I got I license I went to look at indeed.com to look for a job because my area was saturated and all CVS gave me was part-time work. I submitted tons of resumes to hospitals but never got a call back after 2 weeks. I saw an ltc advertising closed door pharmacy with no dealings with insurance and new grads were welcomed. I applied and got my interview and was hired the next day.
I had a classmate that worked for an ltc pharmacy throughout being a student and got hired after he was licensed to be a consultant pharmacist. This would be the normal route to go but its real tough because pharmacist turnover is extremely low. Once someone goes into ltc they normally never leave unless they leave to create an independent pharmacy.
My wife got hers because she did internship there. Yeah, the turn over is pretty low because it's a cushy job. Where she's at, people often take off after working 6 hrs. 🙄
indeed.com is the way to go. There are 2 major LTC companies you should look for: Omnicare and PharMerica, and they do post their ads on indeed.com. I know some inside info, if you tell me where you are, I can foward those info to you. Goodluck.
