I recently received my SLOR from the clerkship director of an away rotation. And it isn't great. It isn't even that GOOD. I only got a "pass" for the rotation, and all the objective evaluations were "excellent". My dilemma now is whether I should still submit this lackluster letter or just submit 2 from my home program which will be outstanding SLOR's. Is this going to ruin an otherwise competitive application? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. THANKS.

This is similar to a dilemma of mine.

I did 2 ER rotations, one was an honors and the other was a high pass. Although the high pass is pretty good, I'm beginning to think that I should pull that SLOR from my pile and instead get one from an attending at the rotation I got an honors from.

I dunno.... maybe someone else can put in his/her 2 cents....

So are the "excellent"s not that great?
