"Lunatic" Asylum?

A hospital moves to rename itself a Lunatic Asylum in an attempt to garner tourism. All bad?

I did my med/psych residency at West Virg Univ. Although I never rotated at that hospital, many of my fellow psych residents did; its about an hour away from the main residency site at Morgantown, WV.

The newspaper article is confusing, but I think the real situation is that the old state hospital was sold to private investors who have turned it into a tourist attraction (Lunatic Asylum). It is no longer a psychiatric hospital, but is near by the current state psychiatric facility, which has a more appropriate name (I am not sure of the official name, but it is in Weston WV and everone just calls it "Weston").

OK. That makes a lot more sense. I just couldn't imagine a psychiatric hospital that had dirt bike races called "Psyco Path" for their patients. 😕

Although, maybe getting some of our patients with obesity on a bike would be a great idea.

I thought it implied motorized dirtbikes. Which is an even weirder image if you were to imagine psych patients doing this.
