Considering a Masters in Applied Statistics before a Clinical Psych PhD. Thoughts? Could a stats thesis *potentially* be used to suffice for a thesis in a Clinical Psych doctoral program?

It's unlikely that it would apply if it's primarily stats based. However, a thesis that looks at the psychometrics of a measure, perhaps that you developed (or something like that), probably would. If nothing else, it will make you more appealing to nearly any program you're planning to apply to.

This. Definitely find one that focuses on psychometrics.
