Hey y’all so I’m an M1 at a mid-low tier school interested rn in top IM programs. Based on how my school does AOA it’s looking doubtful that I’m gonna be able to get it and so I’m wondering if at this point it makes more sense to focus on boards, research, and ECs instead and focus less on pre clinical exams? Thanks!

My brother/sister! It appears you have attained true enlightenment! Rejoice, for these in house exams no longer have any hold over you! Rest in your newfound freedom and walk the path of the high yield!

Tl;dr: Yes, especially to the first two.

Hahaha thanks 😛 Pretty bummed cuz I know AOA is important for the TOP IM programs esp if boards goes P/F but I guess it makes sense to just focus On the other criteria and hope to make up for lack of AOA

Yeah, if I was in your shoes I would become a research powerhouse to maximize my chances at the tippy top, if that's what you truly want.

Edit: And a 260+ on the side
