I have one more semester left of preclinical and then we have 6 weeks of dedicated before Step 1. How is it recommended to approach my daily schedule starting January? I really like peds so I'm aiming for 240-250, don't need much higher. Always do well on standardized tests like the MCAT or our NBME block finals.

Do I keep doing what I have been and just add up to a couple hours of step 1 prep each evening? How many days per week? Do I start right away in January? Do I do content review or do I start doing practice problems now? Should I take a baseline practice test? Should I do Anki (Zanki?) at all or not at all or only anki now? I don't like doing anki.

I just don't know where to start and how to balance it with my classes.

Thanks!

My approach was to take a baseline practice test to start, then making a daily study FA review schedule (5-10 pages/day for x6/week) and doing 10-20 UW questions each day. Just make sure you keep it light so it's sustainable, and take days off if you need to.

Just keep doing what you're doing if you're happy with NBME performance. I love anki but if you don't then don't use it - key to avoiding burnout is to find ways of studying you actually like.

Given you want peds, I'd set a goal of just mastering uworld at this point and that be it. Use pathoma, sketchy as needed but you are in a good position

Yeah honestly just keep doing what youre doing and rip Uworld like type2fiber said. Youre shooting for a step score that is far above avg for general peds so that is commendable and a smart approach to over compensate. Usually you can land peds with a 220 so you are in a kickass position especially if standardized tests are your jam
