hey,

have any of the M2s on here started qbank yet? we had a usmle panel a few days ago and some of the people on the panel (who rocked the test, as in >250) said its a good idea to do all of qbank twice (or even three times if possible)...one suggested doing 10 or so questions each day (starting now) until winter break so that about 600-700 questions would be done by break and then during winter break/jan, finish up the rest of qbank and then start it again.

for the m2s who have started qbank, what have you all been getting? im doing 10-15 qs per day and im getting in the 50s. haven't had any systemic path yet besides bones/skin and obviously not much pharm or micro but i am learning from doing these questions so i dont mind...plus it takes lik 20-25 min tops to do the questions and review them.

btw, im not soliciting opinions on whether i should start now or not 🙂

I get access to my Qreview I think Nov 15th. One of our deans said some students start studying over Thanksgiving break (not sure what he means by "studying" exactly... reviewing first yr, Qbank, what?) and upperclassmen have said not to bother that early and to focus on the classes (ie: Path) that we're in now.

I would like to start poking around my Qwhatever maybe at break, but I don't like that you can't "clear" your results tracking, or so I hear. I think it's a neat feature that it keeps track of how you're doing, but I'd kind of like to know how I'm doing NOW and then reset it say after Path (March) or Pharm, to get a more realistic idea After I'm done my expected classes. But I don't think there's a way to do that, cause it would be easier for more than 1 person to "share" their questions?

Bottom line- don't have mine yet, haven't started them. I might in late Nov, but if at all, definitely on a light schedule, and mostly to help supplement my Path studying for the exams Before June.

is it really worth it to start now before you have had a lot of the material?

i have had people tell me both ways: both groups doing well on boards. a few people i know who scored 240+ said don't bother studying until may, just do well during m2. a few other people who scored similarly said to start now... i'm not sure what to do!

soooooooooo what IM doing is this:

I bought USMLE World (its much cheaper). I am doing subject based questions befor emy exams and taking impt notes into FA. I dont think theres a point in doing qbank (the real thing, Kaplan) until youve had a bit more learning under your belt, so this way I'm doing questions, but not USING UP questions and messing up my performance..

i got 9 months for $399...not sure if you can do it monthly (i'd guess you can)

How did you get that price? On their website, there is only a 1-month or 3-month, and the 3-month is $279.

its their current deal. if you don't see it online, call them up. kaplan gave our class a presentation last week and the guy made it seem like they go to most medical schools to give a talk and offer this deal so maybe they'll be in ur area soon.

Everyone has a different system. I did well on the boards and did not do a single bit of reviewing until May. Some people take that route and fail. Some people try to start reviewing really early and rock the boards, some do the same and fail. You have to find what works for you. The one thing I will say is that if you do the questions now before you have had the material, when you do them again you are actually very likely to remember the answer. To me, the second time around would be pretty useless. So, if you are going to start now, I would use the options in Qbank to specify things you have already covered. That's just my two cents though.

Please PM me with how exactly you managed to get the 9 month subscription. It isn't on their site. Although, I was previously aware it exists. Thanks!

Ugh, should have kept reading. Will call. Thanks!
