This is the situation, I'm a student at UF and came to South florida because of military duty I gotback a couple of weeks ago; before all this I ask all Prof. I had in mind for a LOR.
The dentist I shadowed, my orgo chem prof. and the research director all submitted LORs by June, now Im just missing my Gen Chem Prof. From the CC I went to I asked her back in May before going off duty and NOTHING YET. Been writing to her email lately, and phone calls to office no answer. I call the science Dept. they told me she wont be back until 18 of this month for classes. Im 😡 😡 😡 Im taking my DAT the 21st and pretty stress already to be dealing w this kind of BS.
I just have a feeling that she will tell me to write the damn letter for her. (which I believe is Unethical)
Just wanted to let it out.

I had sooooo many people pull this on me. I hate it. the people I actuallygot LORs from asked for things like resume and personal statement... but that was fine with me... I hate it when people are just to lazy to write it on their own.. if thats the case I'd rather they just say NO!

Also I had several people say they would turn in a LOR and never did... nice. You really need to keep on top of people

Anyway, it sounds like you have enough science professors anyhow, Id skip this teacher

Thanks for the response I just want her to complete the 2 science LORs.
I not only was a student in the class and did well I participated in a bunch of science events w/ her. Disappointing .... I know what u mean exactly I asked her ahead of time she said yeah no problem, next thing u know Nowhere to be found.... But Im going to chase this Prof. DOWN !!!!!

Happened to me too. Asked four profs to write a letter for the committee letter, all but one got them in. I was really surprised because she seemed pretty keen to do it, I took two genetics classes with her including a graduate level one and got A's and I was pretty sure I was in good graces. I was a bit disappointed that even after my emails and the committee chair even asking her she bailed out on me. But I was told i had a strong letter without it, I just would have preferred her to be straight with me if she could do it or not so I could have at least gotten another prof to write me a letter. I suppose we never know the circumstances, perhaps something came up. Still.. an email would have been nice.

Dolbier, took both Orgo classes w him. I studied at the table right out of his office most of the time.
Why u ask are u taking orgo, are u done w it, or planning on taking it???

I'm already done with the prereqs, was just curious cause a few of my pre-med friends asked Portmess and he was nice enough to write them an LOR.

I put in the request in May, as well..... I have written 3 emails..... I have visited personally 3 times..... My organic professor will not write my damn letter. He always says, "Wait. I haven't sent yours out yet? I'll get it done right away." --> With a nice big 🙂. I can't be mean, and I don't want to be that "annoying person", but, wow..... Is it really that difficult and time-consuming to write a simple letter?👎thumbdown👎

Not an option since some of my prereqs I took yrs ago ex. bio back in 2002. and were from CC. O would love to get some from a Gentics or Biochem Prof. but wont be taking these until the 2 semesters to come.
Thanks for the suggestion but is just not a possibility

How about a Committe leter. I had the same issue with LOR's from my Master's program and had to go back to undergrad and get my Committee letter touch up and sent instead with a letter from a dentist I shadowed.
