  1. Pre-Dental
So, im kinda stuck in a strange situation right now. Im taking some post-bacc classes at my local university this semester (some upper level science courses) b/c I thought in case I dont get into dental school this time i would be able to show them that I can still handle science classes.

However, I just found out last wk that I was accepted to a dental school and now I dont really feel like taking these classes anymore. I'd much rather work full time and enjoy my last few months of freedom. I never told the dental school i was taking these classes b/c I didnt plan on it until right before the semester starts.

So what Im asking is whether its going to look bad on my part that I drop these classes or will the dental school even know that I took them if i drop them right now???

this is not the same school that i got my undergraduate degree from. i mean, the dental school doesnt even know im taking post-bacc classes right now.

I dont know that if i drop the classes if they will show up as W's or what. but if i drop them am i obligated to send a transcript from this college (with no actual grades) to the dental school???

Hi DelToro,

First of all, congratulations on getting accepted.👍

Secondly, your question has a simple answer. Just call the dental school that accepted you and ask them. Chance are, if the upper division courses you're taking are not required, then whether or not your drop them is irrelevant. So the best thing to do is to just call them up and ask them...they've already offered you acceptance, so what can you lose by asking them an honest question?

Also, worst case scenario, if you don't want to drop the courses, you're just learning more knowledge.😎

Good luck with your upcoming first semester of d-school.

Keep in mind that you are required to send to the ds in question a transcript of all the courses from all the schools you have attended. Failure to do so may end up costing you dearly.

i'd call as well.

i'd finish the classes though. they can only help you.

You have to send the school a transcript, because they will do a background check on your educational history.

Best bet is to call the school and ask them. I am sure they won't care.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I think I'm going to call my pre-dental advisor from the college i graduated from to get her opinion in the morning but I will call the dental school to make sure it is ok to drop these classes.

And, i understand how they could help but the fact is I could work full-time the next 5 months and make a lil extra cash and not have the stress of classes that I really dont need right now. That is what is driving me to drop them and just work.

if you got accepted and as you said they dont know you are taking those classes then you are fine dude. thats mean you got accepted and they dont need ur classes that u r taking now. i am assuming that u got accepted and they dont need any other final transcripts, right ?

I already finished my undergraduate degree 3 years ago, in fact i got an MPH too. I just decided to take 3 science classes this spring in case i didnt get in anywhere but I never mentioned that to the dental school i was just accepted at. I want to basically drop the classes and work full time until dental school starts, there is no point in me taking them to try and raise my sGPA when I already have been accepted. right?
