I apologize for this post having similarities with other pharmacy --> med school threads, but I believe my question is a little unique.
I have been considering applying to MD/PhD programs. However, I am currently in a Doctor of Pharmacy track which is a big no-no among the SDN community. I'm in my second year before the Professional years begin so I am not stuck just yet.
My question is this: should I transfer out to get a bachelors degree? I don't want any medical schools to hold a grudge or question my dedication to a particular profession as my ultimate goal is to become a doctor. However, I am hesitant to switch because I actually thoroughly enjoy the topics we learn in pharmacy. I have been participating in research for roughly 6 months now, and I figured by the time I finish pharmacy school I should have at least 4 years of research experience in a field I enjoy. I just don't want to practice as a pharmacist (mainly retail; hospital is fine). Would MD/PhD programs overlook that I have a PharmD, or should I just suck it up and switch?
Once again, I apologize. This has just been on my mind constantly as of late.
