Just wondering what you all are majoring in if it isn't pre-med? I myself am currently in Biology, but don't know if I want to stay in it, just because all of the work needed. That the fact that I do not want to go into Biology, so I feel that all that work will be wasted. What are some of you alls majors?

Biology. Came in as a public health major but I can't take lab as a public health major so I changed to Biology. Once I finish this year I am going to switch into microbio & immuno hopefully :xf:

Definitely major in what you will enjoy. If that isn't biology, get out while you still can =D

I was a bio major, but that's because I actually like bio. :d

Major in whatever makes you happy, so long as you can still take the time to do the prereqs and to demonstrate your commitment to medicine via extracurriculars.

Woking B.S. in Health Science (its the Pre-med, Pre-Pharm, Pre-Dent Major)

I can't make up my mind between a chem, math or bio major.

Ive been thinking of possibly switching to either Psychology or History haha so no major is really off the chart.

I'm psychology, with an emphasis on hormones. If you're interested in psych you should definitely pursue it. It's fun, the classes are generally less intense, you learn things that are actually pretty cool (not to say the bio isn't cool), and it's a social science that is applicable to some parts of medicine.

I majored in International Development.

Double Major in Public Health/Chicano Latin American Studies and seeking a minor in Chemistry

Chemistry (because the girls love it).

I was a history major and would definitely recommend just picking something you enjoy. I got to take all my required science classes plus do 3 semesters of chemistry research even as a history major. Also, my major and my history thesis has made great material for my essays and for conversation during interviews.

Speech Communication and Political Science...

I'm undecided between chemistry and physics. I'm good at biology, but I hate how boring and predictable learning it is (memorize, memorize, memorize, regurgitate, purge.)

Surprisingly, Pharm.D 🙄

Let's just say I'm in between majors.

Physiology with a minor in Psychology

Lol, Bio sucks. If you're into masochism, go with physics. 👍

Chemistry- genuinely enjoyed it coming into college...not so much now almost three and a half years later.

😱 Five hour labs!?!??!? :barf:

Four hour labs, my bad. Still sucks either way. Advanced organic/inorganic, structural, etc. all look fun, but instrumental/qualitative analysis look HORRIBLE.

Right now I am on the fence between; philosophy of science, English, public health.

I graduated w/ a Physical Education/Athletic Training degree w/ Bio and Chem minors. Major in what you like and pick up the pre-reqs and any helpful science classes along the way (Micro/Genetics/Immuno/Cell Molec/etc).

Also, 4 hour labs? Welcome to anatomy in medical school, 🙂

i'm so jealous. wish my school even offered a damn course on it.

Aw! I was biochemistry for a few years, so I don't have time to get as into the psych side of things as I'd like. It's essentially just a mix of bio + psych

double major in psychology and philosophy - if med school doesn't work out, rabbinnical school here I come!!

As of right now, Mathematics and Biochemistry, with a possible minor in Japanese.

Well, I have the perfect set-up for a Biochemistry major but I'm also interested in Japanese Language and Culture, Mathematics, and Economics.

As of right now I'm a Mathematics [Statistics] and Biochemistry double major, with a minor in Japanese. The math background is a solid backup for being an Actuary or Statistician if Medical School falls through.

Depending on your school's program, my vote is for philosophy of science. Easily one of my favorite courses in undegrad was "the philosophy of natural science".

I was a biochemistry major/philosophy minor.

Sports Medicine major here. Exercise physiology/human anatomy/neuroscience/biomechanics = way more useful and interesting than studying plants in a Bio major! 😀

Whoa, I wanna take that class! I wish I could take a class on the philosophical implications of the modern understanding of genetics (IMO the mechanics of DNA suggest nihilism, for instance).

European Studies (focus on French and history, with a little polisci) and pre-med.

Euro Studies is my main concentration, the one I'll be writing my thesis on, but seeing as pre-medicine only required a few additional courses to what I needed to take for med school prereqs anyway, I thought I might as well have that one too.
