Does anyone know the cutofff for getting an interview from a school. I heard that they multiply your GPA, MCAT, and a conversion factor based on your school to come up with a score. For example 3.5 GPA and a 3o MCAT would give you a score of 65 plus you would add something if the person went to a top twenty school etc. Does anyone know what the cut off would be for the majority of schools or specific schools as well? How exactly do they determine the conversion factor for your school? Thanks for your responses!

A) school will help a tad but if your numbers are good no one really care where you are from
B) GPA always means alot less than MCAT...not irrelevant but not deciding
c) personal characteristics mean alot esp in the interview
d) schools all have different policies with regard to cut off
e) stop being so damn neurotic and micromanaging your future

First of all, I have to say I agree with the previous poster 100%. But you seem very determined to get an answer to this question, so I'll add my $.02. I attended a "top ten" undergrad school, and I was told that AT MINIMUM I should have at least a 30 MCAT and a 3.5 GPA to be remotely competitive in med school apps. There is a lot of disagreement about whether or not med schools give "extra points" depending on your undergrad school. I think that if you are in the 3.4-3.7 range from a school with a rigorous academic reputation, and you have a solid MCAT (30+; higher if your GPA is on the lower end), AdComms will probably then take your undergrad school into consideration when weighing all the factors. However, having a good MCAT is key in this scenario. Additionally, if you have a low GPA, it doesn't matter what school you went to; you're chances are slim no matter what. Take home message -- if we're only talking numbers here, you should at least be in the range of 30 and 3.5. Hope this helps.
