I think this forum has done an excellent job at helping me know which programs are considered highest quality, but is there any particular consensus as to which programs tend toward malignancy, regardless of quality of education?
For the purposes of this thread, I'll say a "malignant" program is, quite simply, a program that makes residents feel miserable when they go home every day. This may be from faculty that are unnecessarily mean, questionable ethics (like the notorious under-the-table 80+ hour workweek), or anything else that is consistently and unreasonably frustrating for residents.
I don't like asking this, and I really don't mean this as a program-bashing thread; however, the fact remains that this information would be very helpful in choosing which programs to apply to.
Given the imperfect reliability of anecdotes, I hope everyone takes anything posted with a grain of salt. But do please be honest.
(And tactful.)
