A dentist I know owns his own practice and said if he could do it all over again, he would have instead pursued pharmacy or something else because of the relentless work hours, administrative duties and malpractice insurance. How has malpractice insurance affected the pharmacy field lately?

Pharmacists carry malpractice insurance in case they flub up, same reason a physician/dentist would. Usually if you work for a hospital you are covered by their insurance policy however you can purchase your own additional coverage if you wish. Not sure about retail coverage but I'm guessing most retail pharmacists would carry malpractice insurance as well. I'm guessing he's referring to the fact that he has higher malpractice rates than a Pharmacist.
