Even if your employer pays your insurance, high rates will indirectly come out of your pocket. There are many groups or anesthesiologists in private practice where you would directly see the effect of insurance rates on salary. Anesthesia isn't typically one of the fields that has had major problems with malpractice insurance. However, the insurance crisis is a problem for all doctors. The problem is complex but one of the contributors is physicians in certain fields saying it isn't their problem just because their insurance haven't skyrocketed as much as docs in other fields. If those docs keep saying it isn't their problem, it will eventually become their problem at some point because rates will continue to rise across the board.
