So next time someone bitches to me about the homeless guy next door or that we don't have enough pillows I'm going to throw a copy of this article at them. "Yeah, well at least you're not getting attacked by wildlife!"

Two more things: First my initial thought when I saw the headline was that the snakebite was some sort of alternative medicine thing. I guess not. Second I love their malpractice plan, patient dies = pay for the funeral.

Correction: pay for 1/7 of the funeral! Wouldn't the US love that style of malpractice payout?

Too bad there wasn't a special section in the IOM report about stuff like this. If Thailand is anything like the US I'm sure they'll establish some huge, inefficient, ineffective bureaucracy to antagonize their hospitals so that everyone will think something is being done. Maybe JCAHO can show them how it's done. All in favor of sending JCAHO, one way, to southeast Asia say "Aye!"

Bohoo, a guy gets killed by a snake, everyone gets upset. Everyday, people die of vanco resistant enterococcus and nobody bats an eyelid.

"I have had it with this mother****ing VRE on this mother****ing plane!!"

You could never sign Samual Jackson to be in a movie called "Vanco Resistant Enterococcus on a Plane."

Ah man...you beat me to it.

Hrumph.

Take care,
Jeff
