Hey guys,

A question:

I am studying for Step 2. I am good at knowing facts about drugs, disease, etc. But where I'm really weak is understanding how to manage disease. Ie, for instance diabetes, how you would start certain meds if they dont have symptoms, and give other things if they do have symptoms. Or when to use which BP med, and stuff like that.

Does anyone know a good resource to use to learn the basics of managing diseases?

Step 2CK does not test on how to manage a disease. You need to understand the initial workup of a suspected disease. What test is most appropriate. If there is a management question is should be a gimme. Mechanism of disease is important but less so than for Step 1. Good luck guys just stick to world and first aid. You will pass🙂

The score report for Step2ck does show that it tests on how to manage a disease. There is section of scoring under 'task profile' called understanding mechanisms of disease.

I disagree with sticking to uworld and first aid. I just started DIT videos and there at least 10 questions from my last exam in the 'review' q's in the first three videos. I studied uworld, first aid, secrets and crush and that was not enough.

Me: First Aid, U World, Kaplan Vids, 252
Girlfriend: First Aid and UWorld x 1 month, 236 (210 Step 1)

First Aid AND Qbank

or

Step-Up and Qbank

All you need. Step 2 is a test in memorization of random facts. Learn the details from First aid or Step up, train to take an exam full of multiple choice questions by practicing a bunch of multiple choice questions.

There have been numerous threads about this, some suggesting only UWorld (for the strong student) to full courses (for weak ones). The middle of the road, and what most people do, is a single review book AND a single Qbank. Donezo.

Also, from your previous posts, you didnt even pass Step 2 CK. Hardly the person to be handing out advice...
