Mandatory Lecture

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The ones that come to my mind are LECOM and CUSOM, and I think KCUMB but I am not sure about that one.

Kcumb does not have mandatory lecture... Lecom, cusom, Acom all do and they also have a dress code.

I believe that KCU has dropped (wisely) mandatory lecture.

I despise the policy. Adult learners can figure out best how to learn.

VCOM has this at all campuses, not just Auburn.

So far it looks like we have:

LECOM
CUSOM
ACOM (60-80%)
VCOM (all campuses)

If anyone can think of others it would be greatly appreciated, thanks for the replies so far. I'm okay with professional dress code while on campus, but always loathed classes that counted attendance toward grades.

100% agree.

UNT in Texas, the only DO school in Texas. My friend currently goes there now as a second year.

I heard NOVA has mandatory lectures now as well.

Great, thanks for the additional comments.

I think I'm leaning towards PBL at this point because I'm intrigued by the non-traditional teaching method, and it seems to fit my primary learning style best. I've read on here that LECOM tends to do interviews earlier than a lot of other schools. I pushed my MCAT back from June 2nd to July 9th, so I'm wondering if an early-mid august primary will still be considered early enough for them?

UNECOM has the occasional mandatory lecture, maybe averages out to four or five hours a week, excluding labs and such. First year you have between 14 and 18 hours of mandatory stuff must weeks, more than half of which is labs.

KCU does NOT require you to come to lectures. However, they do require you to come to SOME lectures (for example, if a guest speaker comes or something). Id say there is MAYBE 1 required lecture every 2 weeks or so.

Anatomy labs and OS labs are obviously required.

VCOM is mandatory attendance but it's like 85%.

Touro NY.

Attendance counts for 10-20% of grade. If you lose those marks, odds are you'll fail enough blocks to be automatically kicked out first semester.

TCOM - For now, its 5-10% of each system block for 2nd year, but they are having a trial run of not doing attendance right now for the soon to be 2nd years.

Also, they are moving to P/F too so, so keep that in mind too

This is highly instructor-dependent, and even then, about a third to half of my class never showed up for lectures except on review days.

When I interviewed at Oklahoma State they had said they JUST implemented a new system that would grant a 1% bonus to your grade if you didn't miss any lectures.

Edit: also, last I heard BCOM is not mandatory, either.
