Took it yesterday (9-14)🙁 😳 🙂 😀
First off, I'd like to give a few shot outs to all those on SDN who hooked a brova up with kind advice, soothing words, and encouragement. You know who you are..but if not, thank you Amsie, Lifeisgood, Dr Romano and Nancy, as well as all the others who helped. I truly couldnt have done this without all your help. I owe you all a crepe and a pancake, maybe even a shmoke & a bong? (austin powers)
Scores:
PAT 22 (98.9%)
QR 18 (78.1%)👍 😍 .. not uber stoked about this big mama
RC 22 (91.7%)
BIO 23 (99.4%)
GC 23 (96.4%)
OC 27 (100%) Ill be whipping myself like that albino on Da Vinci Code for this one
TS 24 (99.8%)
AA 23 (99.3%)
As far as what I used, I used kaplan, Campbell for bio, barrons, DAT Destroyer, achiever and topscore. Ill write a detailed review of all that good stuff in the next couple days if I dont get alcohol poisening. To all those still studying...know that it's totally doable to score around hillary duff's age on sciences on these practice tests and still rock out with ur (insert foul language here) out on the real deal, so dont get too down.👍
One last note, and i'll expand on this when I have more time, but if you're thinking about buying DAT Destroyer, i'd highly recommend getting it to top off your studying. Dr. Romano's help is priceless, literally. I was no longer a slave to all the trap questions, hydride shifts, rearrangements.. In fact, all through science I kept shaking my head and laughing, seeing where they tried to pull a fast one on me, bloody bastards...
Again, I would say that kaplan tells you what you need to know, and DAT destroyer MAKES you know all that's in there. I couldn't believe that all that was in destroyer was stuff i never fully understood (but thought i did) in kaplan. I know for a fact destroyer helped me get at least 8-10 more right than i would have without it, due to trap questions. Best 150 I ever spent, period.
I liked topscore too, didnt like achiever so much since they ask some random crap that wont ever be on the real thing, plus their answers are tricky, unlike what you actually will see on these types of standardised tests.
My impressions of this beast: Bark worse than its bite..
Bio: Extremely easy. Only basics were asked, with no phylum crap for me. Know your genetics (obviously) as far as crosses. This was really more simple than i had imagined
Gchem and ochem. if you know your reactions for ochem and theory for gchem, you'll be fine for these sections. Pretty much no difficulties here. Kaplan level/barrons level questions
PAT: I have an easy time with angles on practice tests, but for some reason, the angles on the DAT were pretty hard! If I could do it all over again, id skip this part since everything else was WAYYYYYYYYY easier than achiever. angles were about = w/ achiever
Reading: I used the read the first question and read the article as long as it would take to find the answer. Mostly scanned it. maybe 5 questions that asked the authors opinion or finish this sentence type stuff
QR Started off so easy for the 1st 20 for me, all algebra, I was cruisin, takin my sweet time, then the last 20 were killer. I guessed on the last 2 and didnt even have time to go back to a few i left blank.
I'd say Barrons (as far as science) most accurately represents the difficulty. PAT is kaplan difficulty other than angles. Reading was simple, nothing complex, easy to understand.
Here are my Topscore/achiever scores:
Achiever 1/2/3
Bio: 21/17/17
GC: 19/16/18
OC: 19/16/19
PAT : 18/18/too lazy to do
RC: never did
QR: never did
Topscores were around the same except for a 23 on ochem test 2 or 3. Ill post them if you guys want. but the point here is that you dont have to score 22's on these to get high scores on the real thing.
Anyways good luck to all of you taking the test, PM me if you have any questions..
Gooddeye maytes!
