got that letter today. anybody else? is this a generic thing like creighton did?

Some Catholic school. Pulling a scam like this. Did the letter say to make the check out to "Brian Trecek" ? I think he wants a quick 300k to buy a new boat.

For those of you who got that letter, I'll save you some cash. I'll kick you in the ass for only $100 and a pitcher of beer.

Yea i got the same letter..even w/ interviewing. Funny how they start it off with "Congratulations". Then they send you the other sheet explaining the differences b/t alternate list, hold, etc...like it really matters. Oh well, that letter is now lining my friends birdcage 😀

I was on it last year and never was called. If you don't get a spot they send your origional check back to you. They never even cash it, they just hold it.

It's fortunate the guys at Marquette had the GOOD SENSE to tell you that. Instead of making it sound like a get-rich-quick scam. Geez.

Marquette needs new guys running the show.

well...i got one too but get this...I NEVER SENT IN MY SECONDARY FORM OR ESSAY! Makes me laugh, I think they send everyone that...not just 300. And, even if they don't cash the money, they could get some sort of interest for the next 5 months....hehehe...Marquette, Marquette...

That's what happened to me last year. I'm pretty sure it's just a nice rejection. Still, I think it's worth it if you don't have anything else lined up. They will just mail your check back to you at the end of summer if you don't get called up. Oh, and if you reapply next year, you can do an inhouse app w/ them, and just pay a $45 app fee.

from wut i heard, ppul who interviewed there and got waitlisted get priority over those who got walisted w/out interview. Good luck, im sending them my whole bank account $47 and hopefully they will let me in.

Yeah, just to reiterate, for those of you hoping to get in. You really have nothing to lose by sending the check in. I read the letter over several times, and they will only cash it if you sign a contract accepting their offer. So even if you get accepted but decline their offer, they will still send you the check back. You can also withdraw from the waitlist at any time, and they will send the check back. I really don't know what the point of it is, but it is definitely worth a shot if you haven't been accepted anywhere else or if this was one of your top choices.
