Married and Residency

I think that most programs are geared towards married students b/c at this point the majority of students are married.

I think she means specifically husband and wife both in the same pod class (and lookng to match the same residency).

If so, obviously programs that take 1/yr are out. Ones that take 2/yr might also have a tough time taking a married couple because they'd be kinda SOL for call and case coverage if you ever took a vacation together during the 3yrs. I'd think you'd have to look mostly at programs that take many residents per year (3 or more), and you could try to find programs that have taken couples in the past. I would explore any programs that you think both you and your husband are academically/clinically competitive for. The bigger programs not only give you better chance of both matching there, but you'd have better call schedule so that you might actually have some days where you're both off. GL... tough situation.

Does anyone have any information on any residencies which are more apt to accept married couples???

I think the more realistic idea is to both apply for residency in cities that have multiple programs. That way, you can still end up in the same place. Betting on getting the same program is a big gamble. There was a married couple in my class that ended up at the same program but they happened to be 1-2 in class rank.
