Speaking from experience, this program has prepared me tremendously for medical school. It establishes the ties that allow you to apply to their affiliated medical school if you are out of state (I had zero ties to WV before the program). Also, if you get above a 3.4 GPA in the first year, then you are guaranteed an interview with their med school. EDITED: This option is no longer available for the MS program.
Positive: Overall, I think this program has definitely been worth it. It has the strongest ties between students from the master's program getting accepted into the affiliated med school that I've researched with any SMPs. That's why I chose this program over other popular SMPs like Drexel, Loyola Chicago, etc.
- strong connection to med school
- If you get an okay MCAT (>500) and crush the master's program, you have a great shot of getting into the MD program.
Negative:
- it does not give you a ton of time to solely study for the MCAT [although it really helped me ace the biochem section!]
- Not much pre-med advising for med school applications
